A research proposal should have the following structure:
- Introduction (extensive review of the state of the art (latest literature) and comparison with interests and activities of applicant)
- Aim (including a description of impact of the proposal on the knowledge on and applicability of phospholipids)
- Material and Methods
- Work plan
- Appendix: Short CV of applicant(s)
Proposals must fulfill these requirements. Non-compliance may result in rejection of the proposal. The proposal (without CV) should not exceed 10 pages; use calibri 11 as letter size and multiple line spacing 1,15.
Individual projects will be funded partially or completely. The extent and duration of the financial support depends on expected research efforts and attractivity of the proposal. Normally the funding of a PhD Thesis project (for three years) and a Post-doc projects (for one year) follows DFG (German Research Society) guidelines (see http://www.dfg.de/formulare/60_12/60_12_en.pdf). The amounts mentioned in these guidelines, 60´000 Euro p.a. for a PhD Student for a three years project period and 70´000 Euro p.a. for a Post Doc for a one year project period, should be considered as maximum amounts. Normally 50 % of these amounts will be granted. The funding normally includes salary and consumables. Additional uinversity overhead costs are, however, not financed. Also acquisition of equipment is not financed. The Phospholipid Research Center requests for progress reports after achieving mutually agreed milestones (not exceeding 10 pages; use arial 11 as letter size and multiple line spacing 1,15) made available to the Scientific Advisory Council. Payments will only be made after achieving the mutually agreed milestones and approval of the progress report. The final results should be published in reputed journals with reference to the Phospholipid Research Center. The international Scientific Advisory Council of the Phospholipid Research Center will decide on the award of research grants.
Deadlines for the research proposals and resubmissions are every calendar year on:
May 31 and November 30. The proposals will be kept confidential.
